Michael, age 7, loves to give advice to young readers at bookstores and libraries.

And that happens nearly every day because he frequents bookstores and libraries most days.

If he sees a young reader perusing one of his favorite chapter book series, he’s quick to jump in and provide some suggestions and commentary.

Recently, he provided some unsolicited help to a shopper at Powell’s in Portland. You can watch the video here:

Among Michael’s favorite book series right now are  You Choose Stories: Scooby Doo; Magic Tree House, A to Z Mysteries, Calendar Mysteries, Ready Freddy! Captain Underpants and Galaxy Zack. He also loves the audiobooks that accompany some of these series, and has listened to them over and over.

Pictured above with Michael is Matthew, a 7-year-old friend and big book lover. Matthew is the voice behind “Matthew” in our “Bash and Lucy” audiobooks and his face appears in our “Bash and Lucy” books.

In a few weeks we’ll be launching a new YouTube channel for kids, parents, teachers, librarians and KidLit authors. Michael and Matthew recently did a photoshoot at Powell’s Books for the new YouTube channel and website. Stay tuned!

Our adventure began about two years ago with the devastating death of our dog, Lucy. We began the “Bash and Lucy” book series to keep her alive in our hearts. Michael decided he wanted to fill our blog with dog book reviews because he loves to talk about books–and is a dog lover. Since then, he has appeared on the Today Show, on Sirius XM Radio, in Disney’s Babble and in many other media outlets, and regularly visits with school children (along with Lisa), either in person or via Skype.  To learn more, email us at BashAndLucy@gmail.com or send us a tweet!
