Hero dog stories are Michael’s favorite stories. In this video, Michael, co-author of “Bash and Lucy Fetch Confidence,” relates the story of Bear, a mastiff mix who saved his owner, a retired policewoman, from a fire. He woke her up at 5 a.m. by jumping on her bed. The owner and her 9-year-old grandson escaped the fire, thanks to Bear.

Watch the video here:

The dog had just been adopted by retired New York police detective Carolyn Swinson. She took him to church to thank him for what he had done.

Michael thinks the dog in his book, “Bash And Lucy Fetch Confidence” is also a hero. She doesn’t save anyone, but she teaches the kids on a boys’ soccer team lots of lessons–about sports, teamwork–and life. The book will be available in early September on this website.

In the meantime, be sure to watch the video trailer:

With our book, blog, and hero dog stories, we hope to instill in kids a love of dogs–and dog books!
